Romania star proposes to girlfriend on Wembley pitch following Rugby World Cup loss to Ireland
Following their 44-10 defeat in front of a tournament record 89,217 fans at Wembley Stadium , the Romanian side went on a lap of honour, only for Surugiu to break off and make his way to his girlfriend Alexandria, who was now pitchside.
The scrum-half went down on one knee and proposed in front of his team-mates and the thousands of fans who were still in the stadium.
Luckily for Surugiu, who plays for Bucuresti Wolves, Alexandria said yes and the Romania team, plus the spectators left in the stadium all broke into applause.
Romania coach Lynn Howells was asked how he felt about one of his players proposing on the pitch, but with a wry smile on his face, said: "I tried to tell him not to."
The heavy defeat to Ireland means that Romania are bottom of Pool D after their second game of the tournament, following their 38-11 loss to France last week.
Next up for Howells' men is a match against Canada in Leicester next Tuesday.
