Robert Mugabe is addressing the United Nations General Assembly.
Robert Mugabe, the 91-year-old leader of
Zimbabwe, slightly deviated from his prepared speech, while addressing
the United Nations General Assembly on Monday, September 28.
International Business Times reports that the president took time out
of his speech to address what he called the “new” human rights agenda
being pushed by the West.
“[W]e reject the politicization of this important issue and the
application of double standards to victimize those who dare think and
act independently of the self-anointed prefects of our time.
“We equally reject attempts to prescribe ‘new rights’ that are contrary to our values, norms, traditions, and beliefs,” he said.
After a few seconds, Mugabe veered off his script and emotionally added: “We are not gays!”
